I often see the question, "Do you have a recommendation on where to stay in Rome?" With so many areas and choices, it can be tough to decide.
We stayed at the Hotel Indigo St. George in Rome in the middle of summer, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The location, the accommodations and the staff made our trip.
A Warm Welcome
From the moment we stepped into the charming boutique hotel, we were treated like Roman royalty. The staff greeted us with smiles and enthusiasm, as if we were long-lost friends (who also happened to be VIPs). The check-in process was smoother than Italian gelato on a summer day. We arrived before our room was ready, but the staff was willing and able to take our luggage so that we could go explore the city.
Luxurious Accommodations
Our room was a delightful blend of comfort and style, with a touch of ancient Roman pizzazz. It was like sleeping in a history book, but way more comfortable. The bed was so cozy that getting up in the morning felt like trying to leave a warm embrace. The marble bathroom, equipped with a rainfall shower, made us feel like we were bathing in the clouds. And those premium toiletries? They made us smell like we belonged in a Dolce & Gabbana ad. For a family of four, I thought the space was exactly what we needed!
Dining at Hotel Indigo
Dining at the hotel’s restaurant, I Sofà Bar Restaurant & Roof Terrace, was an adventure for our taste buds. Each morning, we feasted like emperors on a breakfast buffet that had everything from fresh pastries to Italian cheeses and meats. We’re pretty sure we ate our body weight in cannoli.
In the evening, we visited the rooftop terrace, with a breathtaking view of Rome’s skyline. The sunsets were so beautiful that we almost forgot to Instagram them (almost).
Exploring the Local Area
Hotel Indigo’s prime location made it easy for us to channel our inner Indiana Jones and explore Rome’s iconic landmarks. Just a short walk away were the Vatican City, the Pantheon, and Piazza Navona. We wandered the cobbled streets like we owned the place, discovering hidden gems like quaint cafes and shops selling everything from handmade jewelry to quirky souvenirs.
One of the unique aspects of Hotel Indigo is its connection to the local neighborhood. The hotel offers curated experiences and tours, and we joined a guided walking tour that took us through the architectural wonders of the Renaissance. We felt like time travelers – minus the awkward period costumes.
Exceptional Service
The exceptional service at Hotel Indigo St. George truly set it apart. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. They provided recommendations, made dinner reservations, and even arranged transportation. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality made us feel like rock stars. If we could have taken the staff home with us, we would have (but we’re pretty sure that’s illegal).
Wellness and Relaxation
After a day of playing tourist, we took advantage of the hotel’s wellness facilities. The spa, with its sauna and Turkish bath, was our personal oasis. We also indulged in a relaxing massage that left us feeling so zen, we could have floated back to our room.
Final Thoughts
Our stay at the Hotel Indigo St. George in Rome was a delightful blend of luxury, comfort, and authentic Roman charm. It was like staying in a five-star hotel that had binge-watched every historical drama on Netflix. We left with wonderful memories, a few extra pounds (thanks to all the pasta), and a desire to return to this enchanting city and its exceptional hotel.
Thank you, Hotel Indigo, for an extraordinary stay. We’ll be back – and next time, we’re bringing stretchy pants.
